‘Quit’ counselling

The National Institute for Health Development (TAI) has developed ‘Quit’ counselling for those trying to give up smoking in a network of SCC offices. The service is provided within the framework of national health-oriented strategies.

SCC office services at Tallinn Children’s Hospital have been available since 2007. The counselling service is free of charge.

The target group is children, adolescents, their relatives, members of hospital staff, adults – anyone who has direct or indirect exposure to tobacco use. Besides classic smoking, smokeless tobacco products and other products are common. The consultant must be familiar with all of them and be of help so that the person is informed of the damage tobacco can do, is properly consulted and is supported in quitting.
